Description
The Onyx Vesper hubs offer all the benefits, and ride characteristics found on the legendary Classic lineup in a sleek, and lighter package. The Vesper hubs are best-suited for XC, trail, and light enduro riding, and excel in those disciplines.
Hub Specs
- Boost spacing: 110x15mm front / 148x12mm rear.
- 32H spoke hole count, ISO disc rotor mounts.
- Patented sprag clutch mechanism which offers ride characteristics like not other: instant engagement, and silent function.
- Made in USA from start to finish.
Onyx RP hubs are available with an XD(R) freehub driver bodies instead of XD models. XD(R) freehub driver bodies can be converted to XD’s by fitting an 1.85mm thick aluminium spacer supplied with the hub under the cassette. See the video below for more information.
Rims
Wheels are offered with a variety of rim options to suit the intended application, including differing internal widths, and rim materials. See the continually updated rim choice page by clicking the link below to find the right match for your needs.
Spokes & Nipples
Wheels are built with double-butted Sapim Race spokes that employ a 2.0/1.8/2.0mm profile. The Race spokes are the default spoke choice for multiple reasons.
- Excellent strength-to-weight ratio.
- Better fatigue-resistance properties than straight gauge 2.0mm spokes.
- Excellent value, and availability.
Race spokes are mated with with black-coloured Sapim Polyax Double Square nipples. Brass nipples are used exclusively in builds because of their reliability, low to zero maintenance needs, corrosion resistance and strength. Reliability, and function are further enhanced by using the Secure-Lock version of the said nipples, or by adding a mild adhesive compound with traditional nipples.
Build
Unless otherwise specified by the component manufacturer, all wheels are built with the following properties:
- 3-cross lacing pattern.
- Thorough stress-relieving process.
- Highest tension approved by the component manufacturer – usually 1200N.
- With a high degree of trueness, and roundness.
The whole build process is done by hand.
Lead Time
All wheels are built to order. Shipping takes place usually within 3-6 working days after the order has been placed.
Once finished, and shipped, the relevant tracking code will be forwarded by email.
